Due to an issue with the front seat belt, Tesla will recall all the 90,000 Model S cars it has produced to date. In such a way Tesla is encouraging all Model S owners to bring their cars in to local dealerships to have them inspected.
Tesla has only been altered to a single Model S delivered in Europe with a front seat belt improperly connected to the outboard lap pretensioner. On the back of inspecting this vehicle, the Californian-based firm checked out 3000 further Model S cars but has so far yet to find any other vehicles impacted by the seat belt issue.
In early November, a customer sitting in the front passenger seat turned to speak with occupants in the rear and the seat belt became disconnected. The seat belt is anchored to the outboard lap pretensioner through two anchor plates that are bolted together. The bolt that was supposed to tie the two anchors together wasn’t properly assembled.
Even if so far no traffic or safety authorities have requested Tesla recall the Model S, the firm itself decided doing so on its own volition.
